How to set the time and date on the Video Pen Cam - VP/C
-Open notepad and create a file using this format: 2008-06-12 14:20:30
-Save file to desktop as the name user config this will be a .txt file.
-Connect pen to your computer.
-Open the drive assigned to your pen.
-Copy the txt file from your desktop and paste it into this drive you opened. Exit out of the drive.
*Very Important*
-Do “Safely Remove Hardware” on your computer.
-This makes the file save to your computer. Repeat process each time you need to change date and time stamp.
Notes on converting the video file:
It saves an .avi, but .avi. It needs another application to decode it, called a codec. You will only get the audio if you do not decode it. In order to get the video to play, you need to convert it to a more mainstream .avi type so that it re-encodes.
First step is to change Windows' desire to play the file. When
WMP comes up, close it, go to My Computer, select the removable drive
and pull the file on to your desktop. It will be named something like
AK000(some number) .avi.
You can use WM Converter (free and spyware-free from download.com). Bring the file in, set the program to covert it to an .avi. We found the best settings are 700 Kbps for the video bitrate, 128 Kpbs for the audio bitrate, 320 x 240 screen size and 30 frames per second. Convert the file and you should be able to view it in any program.
